We understand that receiving your order promptly and safely is an essential part of your shopping experience. This detailed Shipping Policy outlines everything you need to know about how we process, pack, and deliver your order, from the moment you click "checkout" to the moment your package arrives at your door. We've written this policy with transparency, care, and clarity in mind, because we believe you deserve to know exactly what to expect when you shop with us.
Order Processing
Once your order is placed and payment is confirmed, our team begins preparing your items for shipment. Please allow two (2) business days for order processing. This timeframe does not include weekends (Saturday and Sunday) or Canadian statutory holidays. During peak sales periods, such as product launches, seasonal promotions, or holiday shopping seasons, processing times may extend slightly due to increased order volume. If your order is affected by a delay, we will notify you via email as soon as possible.
When your order has been carefully packed and handed over to our shipping carrier, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number (if applicable) and estimated delivery window. We encourage you to check your spam or promotions folder if you do not see this email in your inbox within the expected timeframe. If you have not received a shipping confirmation after three business days, please reach out to us directly at info@bluebirdpads.com so we can investigate.
All orders are processed from our home studio in Courtenay, BC. We take pride in packing each order with intention: using recycled, compostable, or reusable packaging materials whenever possible, and including a handwritten note of gratitude. Your support means the world to us, and we want your unboxing experience to reflect the care that goes into every stitch of our products.
Shipping Destinations: Where We Deliver
At this time, Bluebird Pads ships exclusively to addresses within Canada and the United States. We are a small team with limited resources, and focusing on these two regions allows us to maintain reliable shipping standards, reasonable costs, and personalized customer service. We hope to expand our shipping reach in the future as we grow, and we will announce any updates via our website and social media channels.
Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate at checkout. We are not responsible for orders delivered to incorrect addresses provided by the customer. If you realize you've entered the wrong address after placing your order, please email us immediately at info@bluebirdpads.com. If your order has not yet been processed, we may be able to update the address. Once an order has shipped, address changes cannot be made, and rerouting fees (if available through the carrier) would be the responsibility of the customer.
Shipping Options & Delivery Timelines: Canada
We offer multiple shipping options for our Canadian customers to suit different needs, budgets, and timelines. All delivery estimates begin after your order has been processed and handed to Canada Post.
Canada Post Lettermail (Economy Option)
- Cost: $5.00 CAD
- Eligibility: Orders under 200 grams
(most single pads, liners, or lightweight combinations) - Delivery Timeline: 9–12 business

- Best For: Budget-conscious

Lettermail is an affordable, low-impact shipping method that aligns with our sustainability values. Because it travels through Canada Post's standard mail stream without tracking, it has a smaller carbon footprint than expedited options. However, please note that Lettermail is not insured or traceable. While loss is rare, we cannot issue replacements or refunds for Lettermail packages that do not arrive unless there is clear evidence of carrier error. We recommend choosing a tracked option for valuable orders or if you prefer peace of mind.
Tracked Parcel Shipping (Standard

Tracked shipping provides a tracking number that allows you to monitor your package's journey from our studio to your mailbox. This option is fully insured against loss or damage during transit. If
your tracked package shows as "delivered" but you have not received it, please check with household members, neighbors, or your local post office before contacting us. We're happy to help initiate a carrier inquiry if needed.
Express Shipping (Expedited Option)

- Delivery Timeline: 1–3 business
days - Tracking: Included with priority

deadlines, or customers who prefer the fastest possible delivery
Express shipping receives priority processing and handling through Canada Post's expedited network. While we cannot guarantee exact delivery dates due to factors outside our control (such as weather, remote locations, or carrier delays), this option offers the quickest transit time available. Please note that Express shipping still requires our standard 2-business-day processing time unless otherwisespecified.
Holiday & Peak Season Considerations
During high-volume periods, particularly mid-November through early January, Canada Post experiences significant increases in mail volume. This can result in longer processing and delivery times across all shipping tiers. We recommend placing holiday orders at least 3–4 weeks in advance to ensure timely arrival. While we cannot control carrier delays once packages are in transit, we will always communicate proactively if we anticipate processing delays on our end.
Shipping to the United States: Current Terms
We are pleased to offer shipping to our friends in the United States. At this time, US shipping is offered at a flat rate of $35.00 CAD, which includes all applicable tariffs, duties, and customs processing fees. This simplified pricing structure ensures there are no surprise charges for you upon delivery.

Please note that while we include tariffs in our shipping rate, customs authorities in the United States retain the right to assess additional duties or taxes based on their own regulations. In practice, this is rare for personal orders of reusable period products under $200 USD, but it is ultimately outside our control. If you are assessed unexpected fees, please contact us; we're happy to provide documentation to support your case.
We acknowledge that $35 is a significant shipping cost, and we are actively exploring more affordable and sustainable international shipping solutions. This is a work in progress, and we commit to updating this policy as soon as we have finalized a better option. Your patience and feedback are deeply appreciated as we navigate the complexities of cross-border e-commerce as a small business.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us, it's woven into every decision we make, including how we pack your order. All Bluebird Pads shipments use:
- Recycled paper mailers or compostable mail bags
- Minimal plastic (only when necessary for moisture protection)
- Reusable fabric scraps or shredded recycled paper as cushioning
- Soy-based or water-based inks for any printed materials
We encourage you to reuse or compost these materials whenever possible. If you have suggestions for even greener packaging solutions, we'd love to hear them. Every small step counts.
Order Confirmation, Tracking, and Delivery
After your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation email summarizing your purchase. Once your order ships, you'll receive a second email with tracking information (if applicable). You can use this number to monitor your package's progress directly on the Canada Post or USPS website.
Please note that tracking updates may not appear immediately after your shipping confirmation is sent. It can take 24–48 hours for carriers to scan packages into their system. If your tracking status hasn't updated after 3 business days, please contact us so we can follow up with the carrier.
When your package arrives, please inspect it promptly. If you notice any signs of damage to the exterior packaging, take photos before opening and contact us right away. For tracked orders, we can file a damage claim with the carrier on your behalf.
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Packages: Our Resolution Process
While we take every precaution to ensure your order arrives safely, occasional issues can occur during transit. Here's how we handle them:
Tracked Orders
If your tracked package is marked as "delivered" but you have not received it:
- Check with household members, neighbors, or building management
- Contact your local post office with your tracking number
- If still unresolved after 48 hours, email us at info@bluebirdpads.com
If your tracked package is lost in transit (no movement for 10+ business days) or arrives damaged:
- We will file a claim with the carrier on your behalf
- Upon claim approval, we will replace your items or issue a refund at our discretion
Lettermail (Untracked) Orders
Because Lettermail does not include tracking or insurance, we cannot verify delivery or file claims for lost packages. We strongly recommend choosing tracked shipping for orders of higher value or if you require delivery confirmation. In rare cases where a Lettermail order is reported missing, and the customer has waited the full 12-business-day window plus an additional 5 business days for postal delays, we may offer a one-time courtesy replacement or store credit at our discretion.
US Orders
All US shipments include tracking. If your package is delayed in customs or shows no movement for 15+ business days, please contact us. We will work with Canada Post and USPS to locate your order. If it is confirmed lost, we will replace your items or issue a refund.
Combined Orders & Shipping Discounts
If you place multiple orders within a short timeframe before they have shipped, we will do our best to combine them into a single shipment to reduce packaging waste and shipping costs. If the combined order qualifies for a lower shipping rate than what you were originally charged, we will issue a partial refund for the difference.
We currently do not offer free shipping thresholds, as our small-batch, handmade model and eco-friendly packaging choices make it challenging to absorb shipping costs without raising product prices. Address Accuracy & Undeliverable Packages
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We are not responsible for orders shipped to incorrect or incomplete addresses provided by the customer. If a package is returned to us due to an address error, we will contact you to arrange reshipment. Additional shipping fees may apply for resending returned packages.
If a package is deemed undeliverable by the carrier (e.g., insufficient address, recipient unknown, or access issues), it will typically be returned to us after 10 15 business days. Once we receive the returned item, we will email you to confirm the next steps. Reshipment fees may
apply unless the error was on our end.
